The classic Spaghetti and Chicken Meatballs in Tomato Sauce

This is a classic and very traditional Italian recipe. Traditionally, it is made with ground beef, but I made the meatballs with minced chicken, didn't follow any recipe. Just made chicken meatballs as we make chicken Koftas and then slow-cooked the meatball in tomato sauce. Served them with Garlic and chilli infused Spaghetti. An absolute delicious, healthy and heart winning treat, especially for grown-up kids made under 30 minutes.

Chicken Meatballs in Tomato Sauce

You Need :
For the Meat balls/koftas:
Minced chicken : 1 cup
Onion : 1, finely chopped
Ginger paste : 2 tblsp.
Garlic paste : 1 tblsp.
Fresh coriander leaves, chopped finely
Green chillies, chopped finely : 1 or 2(optional)
Salt to taste
Red chilli powder : 1 tsp.
Besan(chana dal flour)/cornflour : 1 tblsp, if needed, as a binding agent
oil for frying the koftas

For the Tomato sauce:
Oil : 2 tblsp.
Onion : 2, chopped
Garlic paste : 2 tblsp.
Tomato : 2(chopped)
Tomato Puree : 1/2 cup
Black pepper powder : 2 tsp.
Salt to taste
Dried Italian herbs : 2 tsp.

How To :
  • Take all the ingredients needed for the meat ball/kofta in a big bowl, give a good mix and set aside for 1/2 an hour. Add besan/corn flour if you feel your chicken mix is little soggy. If not, just don't add the besan/corn flour. After that, make round lemon sized  meat balls/koftas from the mix.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add kofta/chicken balls to the hot oil and in low-medium flame, fry them from all sides until crispy brown. Remove on a paper towel.

  • To make the sauce, heat oil in a pan, add chopped onions, fry till light brown, then add garlic paste and chopped tomatoes. When tomatoes get pulpy, add tomato puree, season with salt, black pepper and herbs. If you have fresh herbs like basil or parsley, can add too.
  • Lastly, add the meat ball/koftas in the sauce, in low flame, covered, let it cook for 5 minutes. Then remove from heat.

Garlic and Chilli infused Spaghetti

You need :
Spaghetti
Oil : 2 tblsp.
Onion : 1, sliced
Garlic : 3-4 fat cloves, grated
Red Chilli flakes
salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
Dried parsley or Italian herbs seasoning

How To :
  • Cook spaghetti in enough water until just done. Drain and set aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add onion and saute them until light brown, add grated garlic, saute for a minute, then add spaghetti, stir, season with salt, b. pepper, red chilli flakes and herbs.
  • Give a good stir and done.

Assemble: Serve ready spaghetti on a serving plate and serve chicken meat balls/koftas with sauce over it.
A delicious and heart winning treat is ready to serve.
