Appyayan : Honey Prune juice smoothie

Today, I'm posting a healthy smoothie recipe for my event, Spotlight : Summer food & drinks ..........which ends today...friends, you can still send me your entries...hurry up
A smoothie is a blended, chilled, sometimes sweetened beverage made from fresh fruit or vegetables and in special cases can contain chocolate. In addition to fruit, many smoothies include crushed ice, frozen fruit, honey or frozen yogurt. Some may also contain syrup and ice ingredients. They have milkshake-like consistency. Unlike milkshakes, they usually don't contain ice cream, but can contain milk.
Enjoy the glassfull of goodness !!!
Fresh made smoothies provide an excellent source of bio-available vitamins and minerals which partner with enzymes and co-enzymes. Your body can absorb more of the vitamins and minerals than if you ate the fruits and vegetables whole. Many of the nutrients are stuck in the fiber and by blending fruits and vegetables, you break down the fiber and release the vital nutrients into a form your body can more easily use. Not to mention they taste great and are refreshing and have their own benefits, and kids are more likely to drink these than to sit down and actually consume the amounts of fruits and/or vegetables they should. So practice to have one glassfull of goodness everyday at breakfast........................

So last weekend I tried this honey Prune juice smoothie

Prunes are dried plums. Whole Prune/prune juice is best known for its laxative property. In addition to promoting regularity in the bowel movemnt, the prunes and prune juice concentrated the chemical that becomes LDL cholesterol (lithocholic acid) in the stool, effectively flushing cholesterol away. Prune juice may also help prevent estrogen-dependent breast cancer. By drinking a glass of prune juice a day, studies suggest you are strengthening your body’s defense against disease. Beta-carotene or vitamin A, has a huge presence in prunes. Prunes are high in antioxidants called phenols and are believed to be beneficial to the tissues of the body.

Ingredients :
Yogurt : 1/2 cup
Milk : 1/3 cup
Prune Juice : 1/2 cup

Sugar : 2-3 tblsp.
Pistachio/almonds : 7-8 pieces
Ice cubes (optional)

  • Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend until frothy.
  • Serve immidiately.
